Ebony is Distinguished
Ebony Toastmasters is excited to be celebrating its tenth year as a club—and its first President’s Distinguished Award. VP Education Sandra Thompson particularly deserves recognition for her tireless coordination of our membership, keeping us on track for this significant success.
Ebony has repeatedly been honoured for its accomplishments as a Toastmasters club and this year we’ve outdone ourselves: Ebony has successfully met nine of the ten requirements established by Toastmasters International as part of their Distinguished Club Plan.
One of our most noteworthy achievements this year has been our overall increased membership. We have welcomed 16 new Ebonites during the 2015/2016 year, which has allowed us to both meet the Toastmasters base goal of four new members for the year and more than double its secondary goal of an additional four new members. Reaching these two goals contributed significantly to our receiving the President’s Distinguished Award.
Congratulations to our members whose dedicated efforts have paid off this year in the completion of their Competent Communicator and Competent Leadership manuals: Assata McKenzie (CC and CL), Ian Harrison (CC), Maurice Williams (CC), Mohamed Benhafed (CC), and Natalie Meade (CL). Special congratulations to Alison Knibb for receiving her Advanced Communicator Bronze and to Rita Burke for receiving her Advanced Communicator Silver.
